We don’t like to blow our own trumpet but ……

At last, thanks to the wonderful, but disturbing series of TV programmes fronted by Sir David Attenborough, we seem to have finally woken up to the catastrophic problems caused by plastic in our oceans and countryside and the damage it causes to the wildlife with whom we are privileged to share our planet.

Whilst over many years, there has been a growing core of enlightened people who have been warning us about these ever increasing dangers, it has taken the power of television and the respect and popularity with which Sir David is held, to make people sit up and take notice.

Since the beginning of Planet Apple Toys in 2006, in addition to encouraging our customers to buy wooden and other eco-friendly toys and sustainable products, it has been our policy to recycle packaging whenever possible. We have always used recycled packaging, in particular, bubble wrap and boxes which we have been given from other local businesses here in Somerset.  This has always worked well for us and feedback from customers has always been positive.  Rest assured if your order comes with plastic space filler or bubble wrap, this is not single use and will have been recycled.

We have always used Kraft wrapping paper and postage sacks but until recently there have not been sensibly priced or effective alternatives to the use of plastic in packaging and we were, on occasions, forced into the position of having to purchase bubble wrap to protect products during transit.  Happily, we are in the process of trialling alternatives for void filling and product protection, as well as packing tape and we will keep you informed as to our progress.

The fight against plastic continues…….
